Kaya here with our first update in quite a while! As summer is just around the corner, we are so thankful that we decided to stay in Japan another year. If not, we would be packing our bags and saying our goodbyes while frantically deciding what to do next. This year has flown by and we both aren’t ready to say goodbye to Japan just quite yet. This next year gives us the opportunity to experience more of this beautiful place where God has us for this moment. It also allows us more time to pray and seek what God has planned for our next chapter wherever that may be.
Nobeoka is getting WARM and the rainy season has begun. To our surprise, however, it hasn’t been as bad as we were expecting. There are some days of constant showers but they are nicely contrasted with lots of sun. With the end of the term approaching, our schools are gearing up for final exams. This will be my third time making the English Conversation exam so I am starting to get the hang of it! I just pray that my students don’t hate me for it.
We are also approaching our one year anniversary! Whaaaaat….?! We have been contemplating a Nagasaki weekend trip to celebrate, but it’s in the works. We are, however, visiting America for a couple weeks in August! I will be in Oregon and Jon will split his time between Oregon and Colorado. We are looking forward to spending time with family and eating super spicy Mexican food and really cheesy pizza.
In regards to future plans, we are dreaming up some ideas, but nothing concrete. So, we are especially thankful for the extra year for prayer, planning, researching and knocking on doors. Most of all, we want to be mindful about the steps we take, allowing God to guide us. Until then, we will enjoy every minute we have here in Japan. We have been so blessed with the life we live now, it would be silly to overlook what God is doing here where He has us. He has given us today, and we will think about tomorrow, tomorrow.
But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added unto you. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Today has enough trouble of its own. Matthew 6:33-34
Oh, and check out some more photos below. That’s all for now!
