5-Minute Cheap and Easy Protein Balls

If you’re like me and never leave the house without food, you get excited when snacks are healthy AND cheap, you are aware of the protein ball craze and you never have enough time in the morning for really anything, then this is the perfect recipe for you. I’ve personally tried many recipes from my friends and favorite bloggers and they have all been super tasty but a bit too fancy. Sometimes a girl doesn’t want to spend half her paycheck on the ingredients for one snack! Amiright?! And living in Japan just creates the whole other problem of limited access to certain ingredients. So you can rest assured that the ingredients are limited and very easy to find.

I created a protein ball that is SUPER easy to make, SUPER cheap, SUPER healthy (no processed sugars and high in protein and good fats) and made with simple ingredients that won’t empty your wallet! Chances are, you probably have all the ingredients on your shelves just waiting to be used.

So, grab a bowl and make this snack before you leave the house. It’s fun to eat and a great pick me up while at the office and even better as a guilt-free dessert.


(For 3 golf ball sized energy balls)

1/2 cup-3/4 cup old fashioned rolled oats (I use Quaker Old Fashioned Oats)
3 heaping tbsp natural peanut butter (I ALWAYS use Adams Natural Chunky Peanut Butter. always.)
1/2 cup granola for crunch
1/2 tbsp honey
1 tsp cinnamon

Optional additions: dark chocolate chips, coconut flakes


Add everything into a bowl. Mix until the oats and granola are coated evenly with honey and peanut butter. If the mixture is too crumbly to form into balls, add a tiny bit of water and mix. Form mixture into balls and enjoy! Just try not to eat all of them before you leave the kitchen…
